Here’s an amazing fact - almost 10 to 12% of India’s GDP is spent on Logistics. That is more than the share of the software industry or the automotive industry!
The reason why this is so big is not just because of India’s vast size, but also because of inefficiencies in logistics at every step of the process. And while the government has made life easier after GST implementation, challenges remain.
One of the largest startups in this space is Shiprocket - which helps e-commerce companies to ship goods more efficiently to consumers, and now also offers a whole range of products and services to the retail and e-commerce sector.
Akshay Ghulati leads their international shipping platform, and in our freewheeling conversation, he speaks about Shiprocket’s amazing journey.
He talks about Shiprocket's beginnings, aiming to make online selling easier for small businesses, building something similar to a "Shopify for India," and their efforts to tackle unique challenges in the country.
